Our newest boat is the "Wavedancer" launched in August 2007, complete with diver lift which makes for easy entry & exit. Wavedancer is a purpose built catamaran and is tremendously stable. She feels bigger than she is and even when replete with twin-set divers, kitting up is very comfortable. The boat carries Oxygen and Billy is happy to crack it open without making a drama out of a crisis. The best diving in St. Abbs is never more than a short ride away. Typically, diving parties return to shore for the surface interval while another party ventures out. During the surface interval you can safely store your kit on the boat where there is ample storage space. The area has many interesting shallow sites (to 25m) such as Anemone Gully where guillemots will swim down to investigate divers. Ty's Tunnel is an excellent swimthrough. There is also the wreck of the Glanmire which lies 300m out from St. Abbs at a depth of around 30m. St. Abbs also has some of the best shore diving in the UK. Compressed air fills are available from the compressor at the centre. Nitrox is available locally in the area. Billy is more than familiar with the underwater terrain and requirements of UK divers readily suggesting suitable sites based on the prevailing conditions and reassuringly always taking into account the lowest level of ability within the diving group. |
